Three Bed Apartment, Marylebone

Integrated AV provides home entertainment with ease  

Working with State Architects, IDS designed and installed an audio and video distribution system for a high-end Marylebone apartment to improve functionality for elderly residents. 

The private clients for this Marylebone apartment are an elderly couple with disabilities who rely heavily on an easy-to-use music and TV for their home entertainment. Our main objective for this project was to improve the functionality of their audio and video distribution utilise additional rooms that were non-functional to accommodate visiting guests 

Enhanced usability and increased variety  

The client’s existing system was problematic. It was dated and not functioning correctly and running inefficiently. The client wanted to enhance the usability by adding more sources to give them a wider variety of video content to enjoy. In addition, some of their video systems were not working at all and were unreliable; they wanted these fixed and added to one single control system. 

Pulled together with Crestron for simplicity  

Tas Kyriacou, IDS Director, explains the solution, “To make the system simple to use, we used the Crestron Home solution to incorporate the video and audio distribution. We added BlueStream video distribution which gave the client up to 8 video sources to distribute to 8 TVs across their apartment. Their system included multiple Freesat boxes and Apple TVs.  

We used a Crestron amp for the audio, creating multiple zones of audio across the apartment and the ensuite bathrooms. For extra flexibility, we went a step further by integrating the TV audio with the in-ceiling speakers. The client can now play their audio sources such as Apple Music or Spotify and the TV audio by using the Crestron system to switch between sources using one easy button on their Crestron remotes.”
