Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery

Protecting West London’s major cultural landmark

In 2015 Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust launched a major restoration project to peel back years of modifications to the Grade I listed, Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery. The main aim is to reveal and reinstate some of the original key features, which had been destroyed over the years.

Primarily funded by grants obtained from Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England and others, the committee is dedicated to conserving, repairing and enhancing Pitzhanger and its contemporary Gallery as a major cultural landmark in West London, creating a destination for art, education and architecture.

IDS were commissioned to supply, install and commission the CCTV systems for the Manor House, Gallery and Garden Room. They were tasked with securing the perimeter of the buildings, as well as the internal communal and circulation areas. CCTV cameras were deployed throughout alongside internal and guest Wi-Fi infrastructure and data infrastructure points.

What Was Installed

  • CCTV
  • Data and Network infrastructure

Due to the architectural structure of Pitzhanger Manor, this was not a straightforward security install. The team at IDS had to be creative to deliver a scheme which would provide the full coverage needed while being unobtrusive and with minimal structural alterations.

They handled this seamlessly, I was very impressed with how they operated, and their response times were very quick. 9.5/10 challenges were achieved and delivered beyond expectation.

Tas Kyriacou, IDS Head of Business Development, describes, “We inherited this project from another contractor, who had started to install a few products. These were different from the brands we usually work with, but we found a way to rework their scheme, staying spec compliant, installing the required equipment and integrating some trusted brands alongside the other brands, whilst maintaining our high installation standard.”

Robert Weston, Senior Project Manager, Working Environments, explains, “I can’t speak highly enough about IDS. Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery was a job I inherited, we picked up part way through and it is never easy picking up work from someone else. Electrically, we were on the back foot in this project due to poor build work and we were constantly playing catch up, so everything had to be turned around very quickly.

IDS jumped straight in, identifying what had been installed, rectifying errors- of which there were a few and worked out which direction we had to take next.

Live customer demonstrations were a great way to help seal the deal and get approvals quickly, they happily took part rearranging their calendars to meet our needs. In the end a good level of install was achieved.

I use a supply chain score to rate my contractors, and IDS were always in the green (which means we will be using them again), they delivered on time to a high standard with a Quality, snag free and zero defects score of 96.0%.”
