Mixed use development, East London

Secure design for both residential and commercial spaces

Many new developments have multiple purposes – buildings may include two or more different uses, including residential spaces, retail stores, entertainment spaces, commercial offices, hotels, etc. In this situation, the security design needs to meet the needs of all stakeholders, building owners, tenants, and residents.

The Grove House development in East London is a mix of retail, office, and residential apartments. Property owner Grainger PLC aims to change the way people think about renting by creating great rental homes and buildings that meet the needs and aspirations of renters today and tomorrow. They also focus on providing services that take all the hassles out of renting and make customers’ lives easier. One such element it prides itself on is providing secure, safe buildings.

To help meet its vision Grainger PLC worked with IDS Lifestyle Technology to design and install security and access control systems for the Grove House mixed-use development.

What Was Installed

  • CCTV
  • Access control
  • Video entry

The solution

IDS installed access control on most communal doors leading to floors and entrances. Tas Kyriacou, IDS Director, explains, “we had to fully understand what Grainger was trying to achieve, so we worked closely with their team and designed a solution to meet these needs while sticking to their budget.”

IDS used a combination of market-leading access control, video entry, and CCTV products from Paxton and Dahua for high reliability and scalability, which transcends both the retail and commercial marketplace.

IDS’ consultative approach was just the ticket for helping Grainger understand the complete design and specification, enabling them to communicate this with their residents for quick adoption.
